Nine people were killed, four of whom are members of the vigilante group members

At least five persons have been killed by bandits after they stormed Sabon Layi town on Wednesday morning, shooting sporadically.

A Birnin Gwari resident told BBC Hausa that many other people were kidnapped in the attack.

According to the resident, the gunmen had been seen the previous day moving freely around the community but nobody knew their mission until they struck at about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the resident, nine people were killed, four of whom are members of the vigilante group members. No fewer than twenty five people were also abducted alongside a large number of cattle and sheep.

The Kaduna State government said Air Force jets had already been dispatched to survey the area in collaboration with other security operatives who are in pursuit of the bandits.
