Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has emerged as a shock target for Barcelona, according to reports.

The World Cup winner with France in 2018 recently revealed his admiration for Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane wanted the club’s hierarchy to do a deal for him but they wanted a younger prospect in Eduardo Camavinga thereby ruling out the possibility of signing Pogba.

Interestingly, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have also shown interest in Pogba, but Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have now also joined the race.

The report states that the Catalan giants are on the lookout for bargains amid their financial difficulties and are lining up January moves for Memphis Depay, Georginio Wijnaldum and Eric Garcia – all of whom are out of contract next summer.

Pogba 27, is also now in the final year of his current deal with Manchester United, although the Old Trafford side having the option to extend that by a further 12 months and Pogba recently revealing that they have not offered him a new deal.

Barcelona and Pogba would be open to exploring a deal if he eventually becomes a free agent at the end of the current season. He is however, free to talk to other clubs by January.

Pogba played only 22 in all competitions last season for Manchester United due to injury.
