Ben Chilwell plans to tell Leicester City that he wants to quit to secure a huge summer transfer to Chelsea.
Chilwell has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with Frank Lampard keen to add the left-back to his Chelsea squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.
He’s under contract until 2024, but reports claim the player sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
According to Mirror Sport, the 23-year-old wants to leave the club for Chelsea based upon where he sees himself playing for the next five-six years of his career.
Chilwell also wants to solidify his England spot going into next summer’s European Championships. He currently has 11 international caps to his name after making his debut in 2018.
Of course, this is another huge blow to Brendan Rodgers who failed to steer his side into the Champions League places despite holding a commanding position since December.
The Leicester boss said he was “relaxed” about Chilwell’s future.
“He’s not a player we want to lose. I’m quite relaxed on it. I’m not worried at all,” he said.
“We’ve got a fantastic squad that we want to keep together so I don’t worry.
“You can spin it whichever way you want. There is no intention to sell Ben Chilwell and there is absolutely no need for us to sell Ben Chilwell. If you want a message, the message is he’s not for sale.”
Chilwell, who’s been at Leicester since aged 12, played 27 Premier League games and scored three goals last season.
