Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could be facing three weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Levante on Saturday.

Benzema lasted just 24 minutes of Madrid’s clash with Levante on Saturday, having stretched to keep a pass under control.

Los Blancos have since confirmed “an injury to the semimembranosus muscle of the right leg” for the striker and that “his recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Consequently, AS expects the Frenchman to miss Madrid’s Champions League opener against APOEL next Wednesday.

In the worst case scenario, the striker could be unavailable for all six of his side’s remaining games before the international break at the start of October.
