Martin Braithwaite will go up against his former team when Barcelona host Leganes at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.
The Dane left Butarque in February to join a Barcelona team looking to reinforce their attacking options following the injuries to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.
“I know them, how they play,” Braithwaite said about his former employers.
“We want to win LaLiga, so we have to win to keep picking up points.
“I’ve spoken to Kevin Rodrigues, who is a great friend of mine.
“I’m really looking forward to playing against them.
“I remember great moments with Leganes, but the win against Sevilla at their stadium in a great game stays with me [above all else].”
“[Javier] Aguirre is a great coach. I have lots of respect for him.
“He came and knew how he wanted to play and he gave confidence to the players.
“But the most important thing about him is the human aspect for me.
“He understands that footballers are people before players.”
Although he has fond memories of Leganes, Braithwaite doesn’t regret moving to Barcelona earlier this season.
“It’s different,” he said. “You’re playing with pressure to win LaLiga.
“I prefer playing to win a trophy than playing to achieve survival.”
The Dane netted his first goal for Barcelona in the win over Real Mallorca on Saturday.
“Scoring my first goal for Barcelona was incredible,” he said.
“It’s something that I’ve dreamed about and that I’d worked a lot for.
“I’m very happy.”
