Senegalese referee N’Diaye Maguette has been punished after SAFA and Bafana Bafana appealed against him for potential match-fixing.

Unconfirmed reports claim that Maguette is punishment for his shocking and seemingly bias refereeing during the 2022 Soccer World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Ghana.

He will not officiate a single African World Cup play-off match.

the Senegalese official has regularly officiated these contests for many years. He is a senior official who is usually one of the first named to call matches on the African continent.

This means that CAF and FIFA have decided to withdraw the referee.

After SAFA’s recent appeal against the referee for potential match-fixing, this will give hope to Bafana supporters more hoping for a fair re-match.
