A Brooklyn man was arrested on Tuesday for shooting a father and son after a heated argument. The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 6:30 p.m. in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
According to police, the suspect, 35-year-old John Smith, got into an argument with the victims, 45-year-old Michael Jones and his 16-year-old son, David Jones, on the street. The argument escalated, and Smith pulled out a gun and shot both victims multiple times.
Jones and his son were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. David Jones has since been upgraded to stable condition, but his father remains in critical condition.
Smith was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but police believe it may be related to a gang dispute.
This incident is a reminder of the gun violence that continues to plague our city. We need to do more to address the root causes of gun violence and keep our communities safe.
