“Can’t believe”- Lady reveals name of snake that bit Ifunaya Nwagene

A lady has revealed the snake that bit and caused the death of fast-rising Nigerian singer and vocalist, Ifunaya Nwagene.

‎ It would be recalled that the singer, who appeared on The Voice Nigeria, passed away on January 31, 2026, after being bitten by a snake in her Abuja residence.

According to reports, Ifunanya was bitten while sleeping and initially sought treatment at a nearby clinic, which lacked antivenom.

She was later taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jabi, where she received medical attention, including antivenom administration.

Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to severe neurotoxic complications from the snake bite

Meanwhile, FMC has denied allegations of negligence, stating that they provided prompt and appropriate treatment, including antivenom administration.

‎The lady identifed as @Rita Bernie on the popular video sharing platform, TikTok expressed grief over the demise of the singer describing her as an icon.

‎In her post that has garnered over 13,000 likes,she shared that Ifunaya Nwagene was bitten by a cobra.

‎”Can’t believe an icon is gone. Dead by snakebite cobra, RIP dear SMCC UNEC Alumini IFUN”, The video’s caption reads .

‎AMUMESO Choir Breaks Silence On Ifunaya Nwagene’s Passing

‎In a recent development, AMEMUSO Choir has spoken out about the passing of Ifunaya Nwagene.

According to the choir’s Music Director, Sam Ezugwu, Ifunaya was bitten by a cobra while sleeping in her room and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, where she sadly passed away.

The choir revealed that Ifunaya sent a message to their WhatsApp group at 10:13 am seeking help.

Despite receiving medical attention, including antivenom, her condition rapidly deteriorated.
