Chelsea Prepared To Break Record For Brazilian Star

Premier League Champion Chelsea are reported ready to break the record transfer for a defender in order to secure the signing of Brazilian left full-back Alex Sandro.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been pursuing the Juventus defender for much of the summer window, but has reportedly been dismissed by the Serie A Champions at least once with a bid being turned down.

According to The Times, Blues is now prepared to make an improved bid of £61m for Sandro, which would see Chelsea eclipse the £49.3mPremierLeague rivals Manchester City recently paid for Benjamin Mendy from Monaco

Conte has already made clear his intent to add a number of fresh faces to his Chelsea squad ahead of the new season, following the arrivals of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero.

The West London club will take on North London side on August 8 in the Community Shield at Wembley, before they begin to the defence of their Premier League crown when they face  Burnley on 12 August.
