Chelsea is set to enter the race to sign Real Madrid and Manchester City target Erling Braut Haaland in the summer.

Chelsea is willing to pay more than the stipulated price to ward off interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Haaland has been impressive since his move to Bundesliga, he has scored 12 goals in 11 Bundesliga appearance this season.

The 20-year-old attacker has attracted interest from Real Madrid and the Manchester clubs with Chelsea ready to beat any rival to the signature of the Norweigian.

Haaland has £66.6million release clause, which is an issue for the clubs vying for his signature, but the report in Athletic, Chelsea are trying to jump ahead of their rivals by offering a mammoth fee this coming summer – a year before the buyout clause comes into effect.

The west London club are ‘going to do their utmost’ to lure him to Stamford Bridge and are prepared to smash their transfer record, with a fee in excess of £100m likely needed to prise him away from Dortmund.

The Bundesliga club want to keep Haaland for as long as possible, even if it means losing him for a smaller fee in 2022, and will therefore demand a massive price to let him go a year early.

Chelsea will have to go a long way to persuade Halaand to join the Stamford Bridge team, the Borussia Dortmund attacker has his mind fixed on a move to Real Madrid to team up with Martin Odegaard at the Spanish capital.
