Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Shot in the Neck at Utah Campus Event; Suspect in Custody (Graphic Video)

OREM, UTAH – In a shocking act of political violence, conservative political activist and media personality Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck on Wednesday while speaking at a “Turning Point USA” event at Utah Valley University (UVU). The shooting, which occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. local time, was confirmed by university officials and witnesses.

According to a statement from UVU, a single shot was fired on campus toward the visiting speaker, and a suspect was swiftly taken into police custody. The university’s social media channels confirmed, “Today at about 12:10 a shot was fired at the visiting speaker, Charlie Kirk. He was hit and taken from the location by his security. Campus police is investigating, a suspect is in custody.” The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Kirk, 31, was in Orem as part of his “American Comeback Tour” and was hosting a “Prove Me Wrong Table,” an event where he debates attendees on various topics. Video footage from the scene, which has circulated widely online, shows the moment Kirk recoils and clutches his neck as a shot rings out, with blood visible. The crowd is seen dispersing in panic immediately after.

The shooting has drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum. President Donald Trump, a close ally of Kirk, posted on Truth Social, urging prayers for the activist. “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” he wrote. Vice President JD Vance and Utah Senator Mike Lee also expressed support and called for prayers on social media.

On the other side of the aisle, California Governor Gavin Newsom, who had previously hosted Kirk on his podcast, condemned the attack as “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible,” stating that political violence must be rejected “in EVERY form.” Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who survived a 2011 assassination attempt, also condemned the shooting.

The FBI has confirmed that agents are on the scene and are “closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting,” and that they are in full support of the ongoing investigation.

Kirk is the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization that promotes conservative politics on high school and college campuses. He is also the host of a nationally syndicated radio program, “The Charlie Kirk Show.” His events and presence on campuses have frequently been a source of protest and controversy.

No further details on Kirk’s condition have been made public at this time, but he was reportedly taken from the scene by his security team. This is a developing story.
