Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has reacted to the 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid on matchday 4 of the Champions League.

Conte feels the referee Anthony Taylor killed the game with the decision to give Arturo Vidal a marching order. The Chilean midfielder was not pleased with the decision of the referee not to have awarded him a penalty when he was caught by Raphael Varane in the penalty area, something the referee was not interested in.

He was given a yellow card for his complaints and then handed another yellow card just moments later and given his marching orders by the English referee.

“Honestly, don’t talk about refereeing, even if many times the referee must be intelligent and the game is like that,” he began his post-match press conference at San Siro following the defeat to Los Blancos.

“Unless Vidal said something serious, leaving a team with 10 men after just 30 minutes means killing the game but I don’t know what Vidal told him.”The former Juventus and Italian national team manager then went on to share his thoughts on the game overall, which Inter lost 2-0 due to a penalty from Eden Hazard and a second-half strike from substitute Rodrygo.“It was not a matter of fury, we need to understand the weight of certain games.

It was a heavy game from a heavy point of view.“We played a lot against Real Madrid. It was a match that we couldn’t go wrong in, there was no lack of fury. Maybe we felt that a little bit too much.“Only time will help us improve in these matches and manage them better.”

Inter hope of reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League now looks dim and they have to win their next two games against Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk and have some luck to advance.
