The mother of late Nigerian singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has cried out over threats to her life, just days after her son’s sudden death.
Saidat Adeshina spoke in a viral video addressing accusations that she was responsible for her son’s passing.
The grieving mother denied all claims linking her to his death, calling on Nigerians to protect and stand by her.
Following Destiny Boy’s death, some social media users began spreading rumors that his mother had cursed him or was behind his death.
These claims quickly went viral, drawing harsh criticism and even threats against Saidat Adeshina.
The situation has left the bereaved mother not only grieving but also fearful for her own safety.
In the video shared by social media user @therealdolly1, Saidat Adeshina pleaded for help and justice, insisting she had no involvement in her son’s death.
She said: “Nigerians, fight for me. They want to punish and kill me over what I know nothing about. I don’t know who lied that I cursed my son or said I killed my son. I’m innocent. Why will I kill my own son, my source of joy? Anyone who is behind this, what happened to me will happen to them, or else Afeez did not suck my breast. Do you think it is easy to lose one’s son?”
Her words quickly drew sympathy from some online users, while others demanded clarity on the circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s passing.
In the same video, Destiny Boy’s mother touched on the cause and location of her son’s death, though she did not go into full detail.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the exact circumstances, leaving room for speculation and continued online discussion.
The video has sparked a flood of reactions across social media platforms.
Many users offered words of support and called for compassion for Saidat Adeshina during her time of grief.
Others urged proper investigations to clarify the circumstances of Destiny Boy’s death.
Despite the death threats and rumors, Destiny Boy’s mother continues to insist on her innocence.
She appealed to Nigerians to stop spreading false accusations and allow her family space to mourn.
