Di Maria Strike Wins League Cup For PSG
Ángel Di María scored the decisive goal as 10-man Paris Saint-Germain beat LOSC 2-1 at the Stade de France on Saturday to retain the Coupe de la Ligue.
Di María broke through to find the net with a quarter of an hour remaining just as PSG looked to be on the ropes at the national stadium. They had led at the interval thanks to a Javier Pastore goal, but Djibril Sidibé equalised from a free-kick early in the second half for Lille and Paris played the closing stages with 10 men after Adrien Rabiot was sent off.
The win keeps PSG on course for a second consecutive clean sweep of the domestic honours with the Trophée des Champions and Ligue 1 title in the bag already and a Coupe de France final against Olympique de Marseille to come next month.
But there was heartache for Lille and their coach Frédéric Antonetti, who has now appeared in the final of this competition four times with four different clubs and lost them all.
PSG were looking to win the Coupe de la Ligue for the third season in succession and coach Laurent Blanc made some interesting decisions in his team selection.
Lille may have been the outsiders, but they came into the final as France’s form team thanks to a run of six straight wins and just one defeat in 12 outings since they massacred Girondins de Bordeaux 5-1 in the semi-final at the end of January
