EFCC Arrests Three Men For Spraying Naira Notes At A Funeral In Delta

Operatives Of The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested three people for spraying naira notes during a burial.

The EFCC disclosed this in a statement posted on on Friday.

The statement partly read, “The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in naira abuse.

“The suspects are Stanley Ogbolu, 35, Odiaka Sorwu 42, and Kelvin Anyakwu, 42.

“They were arrested in Asaba, Delta State at a burial ceremony allegedly spraying naira notes on a celebrant.”

The EFCC added that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.

This arrest comes amidst a continued crackdown by the EFCC on the those abusing the naira, as spraying and mishandling of banknotes are considered offences under Nigerian law.

PUNCH Online reported in May that the EFCC arrested a woman identified as Janty Emmanuel following intelligence that spotted her spraying Naira notes at a social event.
