EFCC Arrests Village Head For Fraud, As Akwa Ibom Community Stages Protests

The incident took place in Asanting village in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The youths and elders of Area last Friday, 27 January, 2017 passed vote of no confidence on the village head, Chief Ime Ukut Udokah, over misused of the community funds, and forcefully hijacking and diverting of the community properties to his private used. After the protest, the EFCC waded into the matter two days ago. Sunday, who shared the Facebook posst, said

Barely five days after the youths, elders and women of Asanting village in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area staged a peaceful protest against the improprieties of the village head, the Economic and Financial Crime Commissioner (EFCC) has paraded Chief Ime Udokah for embezzling 20.7 million Naira, the money he sold the community land.”
