The man, supposedly a football fan here for the Champions League final, also attacked an Italian tourist and was extremely violent when police officers went to detain him.

An English football fan was arrested by Spanish police in the Puerta de Sol square in the centre of Madrid early on Saturday morning. The man was Unclad and masturbating in public. Footage of the incident was posted on Twitter.

The detained man also allegedly attacked an Italian tourist who complained about his behaviour. The English man then hit her in the face – she fell over and banged her head on the pavement and was taken to hsopital for a scan.

When the Italian woman left the hospital she went to the police station to file a formal complaint over the man’s actions. When police officers went to the bar where the man in question had been seen, they found him in a notably drunken state. He became violent and hit several police officers, several of whom required medical attention.

The man will be charged with various offences for his behaviour.
