Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says Christian Eriksen would have made a “big difference” at Old Trafford had his former club signed the Dane from Tottenham. 

A move for the 27-year-old failed to materialise despite widespread reports suggesting he was set to leave north London, with Real Madrid also mentioned as a potential destination.

“I was quite excited when Eriksen got mentioned,” Scholes told BBC Radio 5 live, via the Daily Mail.

“He could have made a big difference to United in the way De Bruyne plays for City, creating chances and scoring goals.”
