According to Eva……
On Friday, I decided to go very casual to work, especially with the hot weather fuzzing up and down. I threw on a short and a t-shirt, and now, thinking back in retrospect, it was very brave of me.
On my way to work, I got a free ride but after close of business, I took the bus and then realized I was getting side eyes from people and even over heard things like“see what she is wearing”, ” is she an orpan?”, “even if she doesn’t have a parent, I’m sure she was trained to secondary school level”and more.
Questions flooded my thoughts. Is it a Nigerian thing or people are not used to seeing ladies wear shorts during the day? This got me confused because I see a lot of ladies wear short dresses, skirts and knickers at night and I don’t see anybody bothered about it.
Personally, I do not think it is bad and for most of the strangers on the bus who were quick to judge me, I am fairly certain that if they left the country, they won’t say anything about a lady wearing a Bikini!
So my question is this – Why do Nigerians think it is more appropriate to wear a short knicker for casual outings or events at night than during the day?
