The Technical Adviser of relegation-haunted Heartland FC, Erasmus Onuh, has blamed lack of experienced players for his team’s woes, after going down 1-3 to Enugu Rangers International in a NPFL matchday 27 game at the Awka City Stadium on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Speaking exclusively to Completesports.com after the game, Onuh said that Heartland lost to a more experienced side despite his boys’ impressive start which earned them a first half lead.

Despite scoring first in the 13th minute of the game through Yakubu Monday, Heartland went ahead to concede three goals, and Onuh regrets that his players could not hold on to his game plan.

Ossy Martin equalised for Rangers in the 22nd minutes while Shedrack Asiegbu raised the bar in the 40th minutes of the game. Two minutes into the four minutes added time, Esobo Archibong sealed the win for Rangers with third goal.

“You know when you teach, or coach, you coach them, you teach them, but you don’t go there to execute it,” Onuh told Completesports.com.

“Something happened when we scored. There was a game plan, but in the cause of the game they forgot and went back to what they knew and it stuck. These are inexperienced players.”

Speaking about Heartland’s plan to get out of the relegation zone, Onuh said that efforts were being made to see if the team would avoid demotion, but that absence of logistics may stall the efforts.

“You know when I joined the team, we moved out of danger. As I said, when the logistics are there, we can move, but if it is not there , we will only struggle to see what we can do,” Onuh started.

Heartland are in a dismal 18th position in the 20-team NPFL table following their loss to Enugu Rangers on Saturday, pending the other eight matchday 27 games billed for Sunday, May 8.
