Enzo Fernandez has cast doubt over his future at Chelsea following their humiliating Champions League elimination by Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, completing an 8-2 aggregate defeat that underlined the gap between the two sides over both legs.
Speaking after the match, Fernandez admitted he is unsure whether he will remain at the club beyond the current campaign.
“I don’t know, there are eight games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see,” the 25-year-old said.
The Argentine, who arrived in 2023 for a British-record fee, has been a regular presence in the squad, making over 150 appearances and contributing significantly this season with goals and assists.
Reflecting on the defeat, Fernandez conceded that Chelsea were second best across the tie, pointing to lapses in concentration at key moments.
He highlighted the team’s inability to manage critical phases of both legs, including conceding late goals in the first encounter and an early setback in the return fixture.
“At this level, small details make the difference. Over the two legs, PSG were the better side and deserved to go through,” he said.
Despite the setback, Fernandez emphasised the need for a quick reset, with Chelsea now prioritising domestic competitions.
The club’s immediate targets include securing qualification for next season’s Champions League and mounting a serious push to win the FA Cup.
