The Super Falcons of Nigeria have kept their hope of qualifying for the next round at the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup in France after beating South Korea 2 – 0 this afternoon.

An own goal from South Korean defender Kim Doyeon and smooth solo goal from Barcelona’s striker Asisat Oshoala were enough to wrap up the victory for Nigeria.

The goal by Asisat makes her the second Nigerian to score in two different Women’s World Cup tournaments  (2015 & 2019),  after Rita Nwadike (1995 & 1999).

The win for comes after the Super Falcons suffered a 3-0 loss to Norway in their opening game.

Nigeria will now face host nation France in their final group game with hope of making it to the knockout stages.

The match will take place on June 17  at Roazhon Park in Rennes.
