You can have your club nickname set as ‘Football Friends’ in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.
Players have been able to select the name of their club in the popular mode but there will now be special nickname items available in packs – one being a nod to a phrase from The Inbetweeners.
If you haven’t seen the Channel 4 comedy show (what are you playing at?) – the context is that Jay Cartwright is being taunted by his mates Simon Cooper and Neil Sutherland for letting onto someone at a party.
Being the bullsh*tter that he is, he claims that he knows the chap from when he had trials at West Ham United back in the day – and that’s how the term ‘Football friend’ was born.
In the scene that follows, he gets so wound up about it that he starts jumping on the lad’s car in a state of anger – sarcastically saying “f***ing football friend” as he damages the vehicle.
The above leak shows the nickname in Ultimate Team and it promises to be a very popular addition indeed. It means we might just get legendary commentator Martin Tyler uttering the phrase “Football friends” in what will be a truly watershed moment.
This year there will be a whole new level of club and stadium customisation in Ultimate Team – giving gamers “total control” over decisions.
They will be able to edit tifos, banners, crowd chants, goal music, pyrotechnics and trophies to make the club as personal and unique to them as possible.
