Miss Chinwendu, whose story made headlines sometime around January has now returned to school as of yesterday October 8th

Chinwendu’s forced marriage sparked widespread controversy online and as most people condemned the 15 year old girl’s forced marriage to a man thought to be older than her after a facebook user shared her story.

Following the public outcry, the state Commissioner For Women and Children affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, intervened and Chinwendu was rescued. She was rehabilitated, trained in tailoring and empowered with other 100 Ndi Anambra by Industrial Training Fund, ITF.

Chinwendu was today accompanied by the Honorable Commissioner, her elderly father and some staff of the ministry of women and children affairs to the school where she will continue with her education. Congrats girl!
