He later had summer trials at Belgian clubs, Zulte Waregem and Club Brugge but fell ill with malaria which affected his physical state and neither club wanted him on loan. On the 22nd of August 2018, he joined Charleroi on a season-long loan and went ahead to find the back of the net 20 times in 36 outings for the club.

Subsequent to his accomplishments in the Belgian League, he took a step-up to the French Ligue-1. French side Lille snapped him up for a reported fee of about €12m in July 2019. In the single year he spent at Lille, Victor found the back of the net on 18 occasions in 38 outings for the club.
