Gareth Bale wants to end his Real Madridnightmare by making a sensational return to the Premier League.
Bale joined ‘Los Blancos’ from Tottenham Hotspur for a then-world record fee of £86 million back in 2013.
However, he’s become an outcast in the Spanish capital and has been left out of the club’s Champions League squad.
Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero believes the Welshman is willing to leave the Bernabeu – but only if he can return to England.
“We have to remember that in the last nine games in La Liga, Zinedine Zidane only counted on Gareth Bale for one game,” he told Sky Sports.
“One year ago, I was in Washington with Zidane, the day he said it’s better for him [Bale] to go today, better than tomorrow.
“The truth is there was only one option – China [Jiangsu Suning tried to sign Bale last summer]. He didn’t want to go to China.
“He wants to return to the Premier League, but he earns €70 million on his deal at Real Madrid.
“There’s no club in the world, after a player that has been two seasons without playing more or less, who can pay for that. It’s a lot of money.
“So, I think it’s going to be a tricky situation but I am afraid he’s going to stay at Real Madrid.”
The 31-year-old has a rocky relationship with fans despite helping the club to four Champions League wins and two La Liga titles.
He has even been booed by his own supporters in recent years and the winger doesn’t understand why.
Speaking to Erik Anders Lang, Bale said: “This is the biggest question! I just don’t get it. Because if you’re not having a good time on the pitch, you would expect your fans to get behind you and try and make you do better because that will make them happy.
“But it seems to be they do the opposite.
“They just whistle you, which makes you feel worse, so you lose your confidence. They you play worse, which is going to make them even more upset. It’s sort of a Real Madrid thing. Other clubs do it, but Real Madrid are especially known for it.
“So, I might have just missed an easy chance to score a goal. And the whistles come and you think: ‘My confidence is already down because I missed an easy goal and now it’s just going even more down.’ And the next time a chance comes the goal seems tiny. It’s like a putt. The goal just gets smaller.”
