Gary Neville admits he is relishing the prospect of Paul Pogba lining up alongside Bruno Fernandes for Manchester United, before claiming the Frenchman could win the Ballon d’Or in the future.
Following Fernandes’ £68million arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January, he has yet to partner Pogba in midfield due to the latter being out injured with persistent ankle problems this season.
Fernandes has taken the Premier League by storm following his big-money arrival, and it has led to many wondering just how well he’d link up with the Frenchman.
And Neville believes the pair could work wonders playing alongside each other in the heart of United’s midfield.
During a live Q&A on his Twitter page, Neville was asked how he thinks the duo would fare.
The former United and England right back replied: ‘They could be amazing together if they compromise and work to help each other.’
Neville was then asked who he thinks out of the current United players could go on to win the Ballon d’Or.
And the 45-year-old former defender, perhaps to the surprise of many, claimed on Twitter: ‘Paul Pogba most likely.’
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as he continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester amid his injury woes.
He has failed to live up to his £89m price tag since re-signing from Juventus in the summer of 2016, with his character and inconsistency coming in for plenty of criticism.
