The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, saying a rescue operation was ongoing.

A gas laden tanker exploded on Sunday night in Ogun State.

The explosion occurred around Lotto axis of the road.

No reason has been given for the explosion that brought traffic to a halt along the road under construction.

The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, could not confirm whether or not there were casualties in the fire incident, as she promised to give details later.

“There is a gas tanker explosion around Lotto, on Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The FRSC rescue team is on ground for the rescue operation. Details soon,” Okpe said.
