Ashraf Sanusi, son of Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has advised Nigerians to be wary of being drawn into arguments about the religion of victims of terrorism in the country.
He stated this on Sunday, November 2, after US President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ over alleged Christian genocide.
Trump had further threatened to invade Nigeria and wipe out all the terrorists if the k!lling of Christians continues.
Ashraf noted that while everyone has the right to grieve over the k!lling of their people, he however said they should bear in mind that terrorists are our common enemy.
“Let’s not allow ourselves to get drawn into endless and pointless arguments about whether it’s Muslims or Christians being k!lled. The truth is, everyone feels the pain of their own people. Muslims have seen Muslims k!lled, and Christians have seen Christians k!lled,” he wrote.
“Each side has a right to anger and grief, but in that grief, it’s easy to turn away from the suffering of others and point fingers.
“But now is the time to understand: it is not Islam vs Christianity, it is sane people vs terrorists.”
