Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has removed the Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), Meyen Etukudoh, from his position with immediate effect.
According to reports, the dismissal was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and shared with journalists in Uyo. The statement indicated that Etukudoh’s removal aligns with an ongoing restructuring effort aimed at aligning the state’s power sector with the administration’s ARISE Agenda.
Etukudoh has been directed to hand over responsibilities to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will manage the company’s operations until further notice.
Governor Eno expressed gratitude for Etukudoh’s contributions to the state and extended best wishes for his future pursuits.
The decision to relieve Etukudoh of his duties follows his recent statement, released hours earlier, which attributed the ongoing statewide power outage—beginning on Wednesday—to a dispute between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.
The statement added, “As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024.”
