Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has blasted Arsenal after the club’s ban was overturned last week by the Court for Arbitration for Sport.
Manchester City was in the danger of missing out in the Champions League after UEFA hit the former Premier League Champions with a 2-year ban but their appeal was heard and they were vindicated.
Arsenal was one of the eight Premier League teams that want the Etihad outfit ban, Arsenal was thought to be the chief instigator of eight Premier League clubs, who signed a petition to fight against City’s delay of their UEFA ban.
Manchester City saw their sanction cancelled last week which means they will be able to play European football next year.
Guardiola also admitted his side lost 2-0 to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who will now face Chelsea in an all London derby in the final at Wembley.
“The opponents always deserve my respect and credit, and Arsenal, they have it,” said Guardiola in his press conference.
“I have all the respect for what Arsenal are on the pitch – not much off the pitch, but on the pitch a lot.
“So I congratulate them and good luck against Chelsea in the final.”
Manchester City will host Real Madrid in the Champions League reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium next month when the Champions League resumes, the Citizens had a 2-1 win over the 13-time Champions at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the clash.
