Hippopotamus Kills A Pregnant Woman In Makurdi



wild hippopotamus has allegedly killed a pregnant woman along the old bridge crossing point of River Benue on Tuesday in Makurdi Benue state capital.

There are two bridges on River Benue in Makurdi- the old and the new bridge.

An eyewitness account told The Nation the victim went foy the island with other traders to buy vegetables for commercial purposes when she was attacked at the shore of the river.

The Nation gathered the woman, whose identity was not clear, was being ferried in an engine boat, which developed a fault and transferred to a wooden one.

The attacked boat was broken into pieces with the victim drowned, it was learnt
When a search party was instituted, her body was recovered on Wednesday.

Benue Police spokesman SP Sewuese Anene, said she was yet to get the information.
