The plane that crashed in central nepal was really a serious trag€dy as body shattered and scattered beyond recognition, claiming the lives of 23 people that boarded the flight including some hong kong residents.

Mak Siu-ying was among the travellers who died on a Tara Air flight, according to a passenger manifest. Mak used a Hong Kong passport to book her flight, theSouth China Morning Posthas discovered.

“The wreckage of the plane was found in a completely burnt state in Solighopte in Myagdi district,” Nepal’s aviation minister Aananda Prasad Pokharel said, adding that bodies could be seen scattered around the wreckage. Local police said they found no survivors.

The plane was carrying three crew and 20 passengers, including a Kuwaiti national and 18 Nepalese citizens.

Hong Kong’s Immigration Department confirmed Mak was a Hong Kong resident. A spokeswoman said the department was trying to contact her family.

Weather conditions were good when the plane took off for Jomsom, a popular trekking destination in the Himalayas about 20 minutes’ flight from Pokhara, 225km west of Kathmandu.

A statement posted on the airline’s website said: “The weather at both origin and destination airports was favourable.”

Air travel is popular in Nepal, which has a limited road network. Many communities are only accessible on foot or by air.

The country, which is still reeling from a devastating earthquake last April, has suffered a number of air disasters in recent years, dealing a blow to tourism. Most have been attributed to inexperienced pilots, poor management and inadequate maintenance.

The turboprop Twin Otter plane that crashed, however, was delivered brand new in September last year.

The country’s aviation sector has come under fire and in 2013 the European Union blacklisted all Nepal’s airlines.
