A South African woman, Vhahangwele Rashaka, has celebrated her 34th birthday by getting her tubes tied, a procedure which is also known as tubal ligation.
During the procedure, the fallopian tubes are cut, tied or blocked to permanently prevent pregnancy.
She posted her photo writing; “Birthday gift #childfree”
The caption on the photo reads: Finally tied my tubes for my 34th birthday. Bye bye contraceptives and pregnancy scares.”
The medical doctor who revealed this on X said she doesn’t want kids and all the responsibilities that come with motherhood.
When asked the reason for her decision, Vhahangwele said she likes quiet, clean spaces and has no plan to step back at career as well as school.
She said another reason behind her decision is her fear of pregnancy.
“I have never been able to imagine my life with it and saw it working out. I like quiet places, kids don’t give me that, I get overstimulated very fast, so I love them, for two hours, then I want them out of my site and space. I want my space clean, and if messy, don’t move my messy things or I won’t know where to start when I get back,” she said on Saturday, July 26.
“I work nights mostly, and coming home to rest and having someone wanting my attention when I need to rest would drive me crazy. Also, I do not want to take a step back at career and school, so parenting will not help. And I work in maternity, my fear of pregnancy takes the lead in all this. This is just a few things I can mention.”
