“If I have sinned, forgive me” – Tinubu begs Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians for forgiveness as Muslims across the country begin the holy month of Ramadan.

The President made the remark on Wednesday during a Ramadan Tafsir at the State House Mosque in Abuja, urging citizens to embrace peace, unity and compassion.

Tinubu Seeks Nigerians’ Forgiveness

Addressing worshippers, Tinubu stressed that Ramadan is a period for deep reflection and moral renewal.

He noted that forgiveness remains one of the central lessons of the fasting season.

“We start this Ramadan with all the teaching that it brings to us all. But the main principle is to do good to people, to share love and faith, and to forgive sins. I say, if I have sinned, forgive me as Nigerians,” he said.

Call for Unity and Compassion

The President urged Nigerians to use the Ramadan period to strengthen bonds of unity and show kindness to one another.

According to him, national growth depends on shared values and collective responsibility.

He encouraged acts of charity and compassion, describing them as key pillars of the holy month.

Appeal for Prayers Amid Security Challenges

Tinubu also called on Nigerians, regardless of religious background, to pray for peace and stability in the country.

He urged citizens to support ongoing efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry and other security concerns.

He stressed that unity and sincere prayers would contribute to overcoming the nation’s challenges.

Chief Imam Offers Prayers for the Nation

In his remarks, the Chief Imam of the State House Mosque, Abdulwahid Suleiman, expressed gratitude to Allah for granting Muslims the opportunity to witness another Ramadan.

He prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for the President and his team, while asking for peace, stability and prosperity for Nigeria.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer and charity, devoted to spiritual growth and renewed commitment to faith.
