Nigerian singer and rapper, Adekunle Idowu popularly known as Idowest has accused his colleagues of showing fake love,  following the untimely death of fellow rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips

Oladips, 28, had reportedly battled an unknown ailment for two years before he passed away on Tuesday evening, November 14.

In a statement released by his management on Wednesday via his verified Instagram page, the heartbreaking news was shared with the public:

“We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, passed away yesterday, Nov 14th, Tuesday evening, at precisely 10:14 pm. We are still in shock as we speak!”

“For over two years, he has kept his battles within himself. His body is now with his family, and funeral services will be announced as soon as it is concluded! The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss.” the statement read

Oladips, before his passing, released a poignant song titled ‘Die Young,’ where he said people compete with the living but show care and affection only after they are gone.

The lyrics read, “People compete with the living and care for the dead. World people… What is the point of showing love to a good person when they aren’t with us?”

The news of Oladips’ death led to an outpouring of grief in the music world, with his colleagues expressing their emotions and posting his photos/music. His death comes just two months after the death of rapper Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad.

But Idowest, in a video posted online, voiced his frustration with the music industry, accusing it of “fake love.”

He passionately declared, “Many musicians are depressed, but people only pay attention after it’s too late.”

“I can’t die, but you people are fake. I’m cursing all of you planning to show me love when I’m gone.”
