Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has again ruled out Super Eagles duo of Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo from Saturday Premier League clash against Kilmarnock.
The duo we’re in a race against time to return to action this weekend to strengthen the already depleted side after they were hugely missed against Livingston, but Rangernews reported on Friday that both players will have to wait for another week before staging a return.
Balogun was forced off in a midweek clash against St Johnstone and missed last weekend’s draw against Livingston. But coach Steven Gerrard said the Nigerian is not ready for action yet.Gerrard also confirmed that Joe Aribo is yet to recover from quad injury but could be in contention for Rangers’ next clashJoe Aribo is regarded as the biggest absentee on the ground the 24-year-old stands out as the club’s most consistent player right from pre-season and the opening weeks of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Leon Balogun also hit the ground running upon his arrival and helped steady the ship at the center-back. He will be replaced by in-form Filip Helander who has also stepped his speed and overall input in the absence of Leon.“Balogun and Aribo won’t make the weekend,” said Gerrard as quoted by Rangers twitter.
“I think both have a good chance for the following week. McGregor is back fit after training, Defoe still won’t be seen until after the International break.” Gerrard said.
