Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has responded candidly and powerfully to years of unsolicited and crude comments about her body.
Following a performance at the Root Picnic 2025, where she dazzled fans with her vocals and stage presence, Tems took to social media to address the ongoing scrutiny of her body—a conversation she says has dragged on for seven years.
Quoting a comment from an online troll, Tems made it clear that she’s had enough of people dissecting her physique, writing:
“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird.
‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog IT’S MINE.”
She continued, hitting back at those who reduce her artistry and presence to her physical form:
“Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see’, Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels?
It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight. I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone.”
Tems concluded by emphasizing her self-worth and autonomy, declaring that people’s discomfort or obsession with her body is not her problem:
“The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”
