Jubilation As Roman Catholic Priest Receives Certificate of Return As Benue Governor-Elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has given Benue State Governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia his certificate of return.

DailyPost reported that the development has triggered excitement in Makurdi the state capital as supporters stormed the streets to express happiness over the authentication of Alia’s victory.

The Roman Catholic priest who was suspended by the church prior to the general elections won the March 18 gubernatorial poll in the state.

Alia of the All Progressives Congress, APC had polled 473,933 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who scored 223,913 votes.
