An emotional Jurgen Klopp conceded that the title race has gone for Liverpool after a 3-1 loss to Leicester City.

The Reds surrendered a 1-0 lead and conceded three times in seven minutes to succumb to their sixth Premier League defeat of the season.

It leaves them in fourth position, 13 points behind Manchester City, who are currently leading Spurs 1-0 in the late kick-off and also have a game in hand against Everton in midweek.

And without even having a proper celebration with the supporters for last season’s historic title win due to COVID-19, Klopp feels his side are no longer in the race after recent results.

He was asked in his post-match press conference and the German, who recently lost his mother and cannot attend her funeral, looked like he was about to burst into tears.

“Yes. I can’t believe it but yes,” an emotional Klopp told the reporter.

He continued: “I don’t think we can close the gap this year to be honest. We have to win football games and big parts of our football today was again really good.

“We have to avoid mistakes, avoid misunderstandings, we cannot avoid mistakes from VAR or stuff like these but all the rest, we have to avoid.

“Today, two situations we didn’t do that so that’s how they could score two goals.”
