The coast is gradually becoming clearer for Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Henry Onyekuru on where he might end up next season after his loan deal with the Turkish giant.
Fanatik reported on Wednesday that Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco might as well jettison their initial plan to allow their Nigerian International extend his loan at Gala by another season.
AS Monaco ex-Spain boss Roberto Moreno is said to be impressed with Onyekuru’s performance since joining the Turkish side in January; a performance that has attracted suitors from Olympiakos’ and other European clubs.
But feelers from the Principality revealed that Moreno is poised to end Onyekuru’s loan spell for a first-team shirt next season.
But the former Evertonian is said to be worried over Monaco’s plans to end his romance with Galatasaray.
Having failed to ever secure a work permit in the UK, Onyekuru joined AS Monaco on a permanent transfer on 12 August 2019.
The fee was undisclosed (rumoured to be between £12-£15 million) and Onyekuru signed a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 club.
He scored 14 goals in 35 appearances for Galatasaray who went on to win the Turkish championship.
But Manaco failed to include an ‘option to buy’ clause in the loan, suggesting that Onyekuru remains a part of their long-term strategy.
Since his arrival in the Principality, Onyekuru only played four matches under Leonardo Jardim who was sacked just after Christmas and replaced by ex-Spain boss Roberto Moreno.
He hasn’t played in Ligue 1 since September 29.
