Kogi’s Internally-Generated Revenue Hits N1bn Monthly

Posted by on November 16, 2017,

By Boluwaji ObahopoLOKOJA—Kogi State internally-generated revenue, IGR, has hit N1 billion monthly, Executive Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, KGIRS, Dr. Yakubu Oseni, has stated.

Oseni said this, yesterday in Lokoja, while speaking with members of the Correspondent Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi State chapter, adding “before we took over, the state was generating N300 million monthly; but now we have hit one billion naira on the average, after blocking all the leakages.”

He said though the state governor gave the agency N3 billion monthly targets, but the recession in the country was one of the reasons the agency was yet to meet its target.

He, however, decried the nonchalant attitude of the citizen towards tax payment, saying only 400,000 persons, including both the state and local government workers, are paying tax; half of the figure, he said, were not consistent in their payment.
