Lady labels phone vendor a thief as he fails to deliver an iPhone 15 Pro after ₦1.6m payment

A Nigerian lady has accused a phone vendor of fraud after her friend paid ₦1.6 million for an iPhone 15 Pro on November 27, yet has not received the device or a refund.

She took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to expose the vendor, calling him a “thief” and vowing to declare him wanted.

In a detailed post, she recounted how her friend made the payment for a brand-new iPhone 15 Pro but has since been met with endless excuses from the vendor instead of receiving the device or a refund.

Her statement read:  

“Hello ####, when are you going to refund my friend’s ₦1.6 million? You were paid for a phone on November 27, but after failing to get the preferred color, you decided to spend the money instead. It’s been almost a month, and all you’ve given are excuses.”

“From claiming your bank had issues to ignoring his calls—what is this nonsense? I referred you, and this is how you choose to repay me? I even told you he got robbed and needed the phone urgently. Almost a month now, no phone, no money.”

Following the accusations, the phone vendor eventually responded, offering his side of the story.

He explained that the customer had previously purchased an iPhone 15 Pro from him in October, but it was later stolen.

In November, the same customer reached out again to buy another iPhone 15 Pro, along with a friend who also wanted the same model. However, issues arose when they insisted on a specific color—black titanium—which he struggled to find due to market scarcity.

According to him, when the customer returned from a trip, he mentioned that his friend’s iPhone 15 Pro had fallen and its screen was damaged.

They requested an engineer to fix it, and he referred one who charged ₦550,000, though he negotiated a discount to ₦500,000. Since the customer still had money with him, they agreed to send ₦300,000 to the engineer while he covered the remaining ₦200,000, to be reimbursed later.

Despite multiple attempts to secure the requested device, he claimed that the customer eventually requested a full refund on December 3, which he promised to process by the following Sunday.

Weeks later, the refund had yet to be made, leading the lady to call him out again on social media.

She wrote:  

“This criminal is out playing football while still owing my friend ₦1.6 million. He’s been running away. We even went to the shop he claimed to own, but he was nowhere to be found.”

“You people should keep associating with a criminal until he steals from you. At this point, it’s time to declare him wanted. Stupid thief!”

As the dispute escalates, social media users are closely following the situation, awaiting the vendor’s next move.
