Lagos Dep. Gov. urges Muslims to celebrate moderately
The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, on Wednesday said the Eid-il-Fitr celebration called for sober reflection, appreciation of Allah’s mercies and thanksgiving for peace in the country.
Adebule made the assertion in Lagos in her message to Muslims as they marked the end of Ramadan fasting globally.
She thanked Lagos residents for maintaining harmonious co-existence in the face of economic challenges and insecurity in the nation.
“I urge us as Muslims to celebrate moderately, reflect on our lives, thank God for all His mercies and reach out to the less privileged among us.
“We should also sustain the lessons of Ramadan which is in consonance with the lifestyle of the Holy Prophet Muhammed.
“Let us continue to live together with mutual respect and tolerance so that we can continue to enjoy the delivery of good governance and economic prosperity which Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s government is providing,’’ she said.
Adebule urged parents and guardians to counsel their children and wards on the dangers of engaging in violence and anti-social activities.
According to her, the Lagos State Government is assuring law abiding residents of their security and welfare at all times.
