Lagos DSVA reacts after lady stated that she was sexually assault by a stranger in her home

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has responded after a young woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in her apartment.

The video, which has been circulating on social media, shows the lady tearfully recounting her experience on TikTok.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the agency confirmed it is aware of the video and the public concerns surrounding it.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page,” the statement read.

The agency said it has begun efforts to reach the survivor to offer support and intervention.

“We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location.

“Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication,” it added.

In the video posted on Monday, the young woman alleged she was assaulted and appeared visibly distressed.

“I felt like I couldn’t take it anymore,” she said.

She also revealed that she drank insecticide and was rushed to the hospital by a friend.

“My chest is burning, and I am so tired and so broken. My friend had to rush me to the hospital to save me. I’m not mentally strong from everything that’s going on,” she said.

The DSVA reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on domestic and sexual violence, assuring that survivors deserve protection, care and justice.
