Landlady announces Christmas gift for ‘unproblematic’ tenant, goes viral

A Mexican landlady announces her plans to give her tenant a special Christmas gift for proving exceptionally well-behaved and best at taking care of her apartment.

A social media user @aimeeelizabeth_ took to the X platform to shower accolades on her tenant who has been dutiful and unproblematic.

She revealed in a recent tweet that her tenant has consistently paid rent on time for the past 16 months, maintained the apartment‘s cleanliness, and been a pleasant occupant overall.

In her post, she wrote: “My tenant has paid her rent on time the last 16 months. She not only pays on time, but keeps the apartment clean & is unproblematic. I’m giving her a month of free rent as a Christmas gift. I think she deserves that. We all deserve a break sometimes.”

The landlady’s gesture has been widely appreciated on social media, with many praising her for acknowledging her tenant’s reliability and creating a positive renting experience.

However, a few critics ridiculed her for making her gesture public; stating that the gift had been tainted and should’ve been made anonymous.

A critic identified as @wcmmifl reacted, “While I am certain your gift is appreciated by the recipient, your motive has been tainted by your very public announcement of it. A gift made in secret and anonymously is the best gift of all because there is no possibility of receiving recognition or reciprocation for it. This is likely why you are being so harshly criticized. Giving the gift was a wise choice. Announcing it on X — not so much so.”

Surprised by the negative remarks from some individuals, the landlady noted in a new post, “ppl calling me nasty names &wishing death on me because I shared a thought🫠 I had dirty non paying tenants the 1st time I rented out my apt, that coupled with my dad dying unexpectedly, my $ struggle was horrific last yr. Life’s been cruel. I choose kindness because GRATITUDE🙏🏽.”
