Lecturer allegedly collapses, dies in young lady’s house in Minna

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of a 53-year-old lecturer who reportedly collapsed while visiting a young woman in Minna, the state capital.

The incident has sparked public concern, as police begin investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s death.

Incident occurred during private visit

The deceased, identified as Abdulfatai Aiyede, was said to be a lecturer from Bida who travelled to Minna on January 27, 2026.

Police reports indicate that he visited a 25-year-old nursing student, Stella Joseph, at her residence.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, the incident was reported at about 10 a.m. on the same day. During the visit, Stella allegedly served the lecturer a meal.

Shortly after eating, Aiyede reportedly began to convulse. Witness accounts suggest he suddenly collapsed inside the house, causing panic.

Lecturer rushed to hospital, later confirmed dead

Following the collapse, the lecturer was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna for urgent medical attention. However, medical personnel later confirmed that he had died.

The cause of the sudden convulsion and collapse remains unclear at this stage.

Police arrest host, launch investigation

Abiodun confirmed that Stella Joseph has been arrested in connection with the incident. He explained that her arrest is part of ongoing investigations and does not yet imply guilt.

The police spokesperson added that the body of the deceased has been taken for medical examination. Authorities are awaiting the outcome of tests to determine the exact cause of death.

Police assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that further updates will be provided as findings emerge.
