The Anambra State Government has announced a restriction of movement across the state from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, to ensure the smooth conduct of local council elections.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the restriction aims to maintain peace and order during the electoral process organized by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
“Ndi Anambra are hereby informed that there is a movement restriction throughout Anambra state on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., as the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) requested,” Mefor said.
The restriction exempts individuals on election duties, including ANSIEC officials, electoral observers, accredited journalists, and emergency services such as ambulances and firefighters. Mefor urged residents to comply with the directive in the interest of peace and to avoid any legal consequences for violating the order.
