The Barcelona captain is part of a 23-man squad

Lionel Messi has been named in Argentina’s squad for the 2019 Copa America in Brazil.

The Barcelona captain returned to international duty in March after taking a break following World Cup 2018 and will lead the team again this summer.

Manager Lionel Scaloni named his 23-man squad for the tournament on Tuesday with the main surprise being the absence of Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.

Argentina warm up for the tournament with a friendly against Nicaragua and will then face Colombia, Paraguay and Qatar in the group stages of the Copa America.
