Lizzo turned heads at the BET Awards on Monday night, showcasing a striking new look at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The 37-year-old singer, born Melissa Jefferson, wore a black leather corset paired with a matching mini dress, accentuating her recent weight loss. She completed the look with dazzling diamond jewelry and a sleek platinum blonde hairstyle, posing alongside fellow artist SZA at the event.

While she didn’t walk the red carpet, Lizzo made a notable impression inside the venue, mingling with stars and stopping for photos with the likes of B2K members Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, and Omarion. Fans praised her appearance on social media, with one user writing, “Lizzo looked ravishing!” and another commenting, “Lizzo is FIERCE now!”

However, some viewers were critical of the event’s production choices after cameras cut to Lizzo immediately following a diabetes-related joke made by hosts Kevin Hart, Druski, and Kai Cenat. Social media users questioned the timing, calling it insensitive.

Lizzo’s appearance comes shortly after she opened up about her weight-loss journey on The Jason Lee Show. While she declined to share exactly how many pounds she has lost since beginning the process in 2023, she spoke candidly about the public’s reaction to her transformation.

“I think it was crazy to people because I was fat,” she said. “The shocking factor was that people couldn’t believe someone who looked like me could be that confident.”

When asked why she hasn’t shared specific numbers, Lizzo explained, “If I say the number, I don’t think people could do the math. I’ve seen TikToks saying I lost 500 pounds—it’s wild. Why are y’all putting numbers on me? It kind of annoys me.”

In January, Lizzo shared a personal milestone with her fans on Instagram, revealing that she had met her weight loss goal. “I haven’t seen this number since 2014,” she wrote. “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
